History

Calli Baker’s Firehouse had its beginnings as Calli Baker’s Roadhouse in the early 1990s, in the Kroger shopping plaza in North Myrtle Beach, SC.  The original owners, Debbie Breyare and Mike Hilton, established the restaurant as what was to become a locals’ favorite.  In the late 1990s, the restaurant moved south to 511 Lake Arrowhead Road, where it continued to live up to its reputation as an establishment that served large portions of good food, great service, and a place to relax and unwind.

In 2005, active duty firemen, Heath Scurfield and Jack Montgomery purchased Calli Baker’s Roadhouse and changed its name to Calli Baker’s Firehouse, in honor of the profession they both serve.  While the theme and décor changed, the dedication to customer service, comfortable atmosphere, and good food remained.

In 2007, Chief Montgomery left Calli Baker’s to continue his service with the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, SC.  Captain Scurfield remained as sole owner, at the 511 Lake Arrowhead Road location.

In July 2008, Heath moved his business to a much larger building, in front of Myrtle Beach Mall.  Calli Baker’s remained at that location until November of 2015 when it was closed to focus on the construction of its new building on Lake Arrowhead Road.  The new location was scheduled to open in the spring of 2016, but construction delays pushed that date back by over six months.  The new location at 910 Lake Arrowhead Road finally opened to the public on January 5th, 2017.  At 6,400 square feet, the new location offers an open and airy feel with high ceilings and five large garage doors that are opened when weather permits. There is corn hole and a fire pit in the back yard that makes for a great place to realx.            Walking through Calli Baker’s is like visiting a museum dedicated to public safety individuals.  Memorabilia serve as a reminder of the daily sacrifice firefighters, EMS personnel, and police officers give every day.
